Harrogate Town's leading marksman Jack Muldoon remains a doubt for Saturday's League Two showdown with Bolton Wanderers.

The versatile 31-year-old attacker suffered a muscle strain during the second half of his side's FA Trophy semi-final win over Notts County on September 23 and is still not 100 per cent.

Muldoon, who has already scored three times in just two league starts this term, underwent a fitness test ahead of last weekend's goalless draw at Port Vale, but Town decided not to risk him.

And, Simon Weaver has revealed that he will again leave it as late as possible before making a decision on whether to recall the ex-Lincoln City man to face Bolton at the Keepmoat Stadium.

“Jack will need a late fitness test again," the Town boss said.

“Obviously he missed last Saturday, which was a blow, because you know what you’re going to get from him.

“His work-rate, his running off the ball, closing defenders down - and that quality he brings. He’s an important player for us - in fact, he's fast becoming a bit of a legend here - but we’ll have to wait and see.”

Meanwhile, Weaver also went on to admit that he has been seriously impressed by the efforts in training of a number of players who have found themselves outside his starting line-up so far this season.

"We've got a stronger squad this season and some of the lads who haven't had much game-time yet are banging down the door," he added.

"There have been some excellent performances in training and it's given me plenty to think about.

"It makes you think 'you know what, if I do need to rotate the the team, we do have that quality on the bench'."
