The developments to the hospital end of the ground began over the summer after the club received a bumper grant of more than £100,000 from the Football Foundation’s Stadia Improvement Fund.

As a result, a new covered terrace has been built with a toilet block and food outlet at the Lancaster Park Road Hospital end.

The club’s Managing Director, Garry Plant described the stand as a ‘lovely facility’ for supporters to watch the game and believes it provides supporters with the best view in the stadium.

He said: “The new stand is fantastic, it looks great and it gives the supporters the opportunity to watch the game and to stay dry.

“The stand will be officially opened at a ceremony this Saturday before the match and we can’t wait to see people in it and hear the noise coming from it.

“It had a fantastic blessing last Saturday as four of the give goals that we scored went in at that end.”

The club also has planning permission to develop the Wetherby Road stand.

Neither stand will increase the official 3,200 capacity of the ground but Mr Plant said that the community had already benefited from the developments.

He said: “We have worked alongisde various groups in the local community on several projects including educational seminars and practical workshops at the club.

“When Irving and Simon Weaver came to the club they were told that we would play a big part in the community and the new stand gives us much more scope to
do that.”
