Harrogate Town in talks to permanently sign Hull City midfielder Ryan Fallowfield

Harrogate Town are in talks with Hull City midfielder Ryan Fallowfield to turn his loan move into a permanent deal.

Town assistant manager John McDermott said the Premier League outfit have told the 18-year-old that he will be released from his contract.

Fallowfield has put in a string of fine performances in Town colours since joining on loan in December but his three-month stay at Harrogate ended at the weekend.

He reverted back to a defensive role on Saturday and helped Town to a 2-1 victory, with both goals from Jordan Thewlis.

Town assistant manager John McDermott said the club were keen to secure his services and a deal could be done before Town play basement side Hyde away on Saturday.

He said: “He might be getting released, and if that’s the case we are speaking to him and trying to sign him.

“I have to give him credit, he got told before Saturday’s game and went out and gave a great 90 minutes.

“The lads attitude was that good. He stayed level headed and took the bad new on the chin.”

After leaving Town on Saturday, Fallowfield said on Twitter: “What a great 3 months out on loan @HarrogateTown enjoyed every minute! Staff and lads are great, see what happens next now!”

Hyde have only won three matches all season, and look doomed to relegation. But McDermott said Town must be wary.

He added: “They have had some decent results of late and we have to respect that. Because it’s the bottom of the league doesn’t mean we have the right to win it. We have to ear
