Harrogate Town hopeful that fans can attend Forest Green Rovers clash

The development follows the government’s decision to place North Yorkshire into tier two measures when the second national lockdown aimed at preventing the spread of Covid-19 ends next week.

It was announced on Monday that football clubs in tier two areas will be permitted to allow up to 2,000 fans inside their stadiums for fixtures taking place from December 2 onwards.

Town are due to host Scunthorpe United on December 1, and although EFL chairman Rick Parry had suggested that this fixture could be moved back 24 hours to allow supporters to attend, the club has stated that it is "highly unlikely that this will be possible".

“We’re really looking forward to crowds filling the EnviroVent Stadium again," managing director Garry Plant said.

"We’ve got a lot of hoops to jump through with all the authorities we have to get signed off which is going to be a bulk of work.”

“We are going to have to socially-distance, so have to do all the calculations around that.

"We must look after staff, players and supporters and, as eager as we all are to get some noise back in the stadium, we are keen to make sure we do everything correctly.”
