Harrogate Town to give youth chance against Trophy winners

Simon Weaver will offer younger members of the Harrogate Town squad a chance to stake a claim for a contract in the final five matches of the season.

Hull City teenager Jake Rose and new recruits Niall Doran and James Cadman are expected to be handed a chance to express their talents over the Easter weekend.

Town secured a month-long loan deal for Stalybridge Celtic’s Cadman minutes before the non-league transfer deadline slammed shut last Thursday.

The midfielder impressed as a second-half substitute in Saturday’s 1-1 draw against Lowestoft – hitting the post within a minute of arriving. However, he is inelible to face Stalybridge when Town travel west on Saturday.

On his debut, Weaver said: “He came in fresh as a daisy and did really well. He made a real telling contribution and he fits in well with the energetic bunch we have.”

Meanwhile, shock FA Trophy winners North Ferriby United will provide a Bank Holiday delight at the CNG Stadium on Monday afternoon (3pm).

Former Town striker Ryan Kendall scored twice for United as they shocked Conference side Wrexham on penalties at Wembley on Sunday. Kendall, who failed to register for Town in five games this season, is likely to line-up on Monday alongside fellow Town oldboys Nathan Peat and Adam Bolder.
