Harrogate Town get one over promotion rivals North Ferriby United

Harrogate Town moved a step closer towards an end of season play-off position with a crucial win over Yorkshire rivals North Ferriby United.

Midfielder Lloyd Kerry got the only goal of the game as Town climbed up to fourth spot in National League North and joined North Ferriby on 52 points.

Solihull Moors remain the frontrunners in the division - despite their 6-0 defeat at Town last month - and top the table by seven points having played one more game than Town.

Town are on a hot streak of form in the league with four wins from their last five matches and have at least two matches in hand on the two teams (Nuneaton Town and Boston United) below them vying for a play-off spot.

Simon Weaver had influential captain Danny Ellis back available at centre-half for the trip east, while Rotherham United loanee Mason Warren made his debut at left-back.

Peter Crook made a bundle of early saves to stifle the hosts before Town's killer blow arrived courtesy of Kerry.

Paul Clayton flicked on a header to Jordan Thewlis who found Kerry to slam home in the 27th minute.

Thewlis hit the side-netting before the break before Ferriby had several chances inside the box but the ball was eventually cleared by the Town defence.

Ferriby pressured for an equaliser in the second half but Town held firm, with right-back Lewis Turner impressing to win the man of the match award.
