Harrogate Town 1 Barrow AFC 0: Advertiser player ratings

Here's an assessment of how Simon Weaver's players performed during their first-ever EFL fixture on home soil.
James Belshaw 8 - Handled and kicked the ball tidily throughout and ultimately his excellent save from Josh Kay's 43rd-minute effort ensured that Town ended up with three points rather than just one.

Hide AdRyan Fallowfield 7 - A bundle of energy down the right. Works so hard both defensively and offensively, the only thing that has been missing in recent weeks is that little bit of quality in the final third.

Will Smith 8 - A couple of uncharacteristic loose moments, one of which saw him fail to score a golden headed opportunity. He was however the pick of the Harrogate back-four once again and also chipped in with the assist for Jack Muldoon's winning goal.
Connor Hall 7 - Pretty solid throughout and demonstrated his intelligence with his positional play and reading of the game. Distribution with his left foot was also decent.
Warren Burrell 6 - Wasn't really able to offer too much going forwards, and while he didn't do a lot wrong defensively he might be disappointed with the way that Kay danced past him and opened up a sight of the Town goal just before half-time.

Hide AdGeorge Thomson 7 - Lively and tricky with the ball at his feet, this was the Harrogate right-winger's best showing for a couple of weeks. Produced a number of fine set-piece deliveries, one of which Smith headed wide before Muldoon finished off the second, only for the referee to blow up for an off-the-ball incident.

Josh Falkingham 7 - This wasn't quite vintage Falkingham, though he still had a big impact on proceedings. As ever, the Town skipper led by example in terms intensity and tempo. His communication and game management helped ensure that the hosts never really looked like being pegged back during the second 45.
Lloyd Kerry 6 - Gave the ball away twice during the early stages and was probably lucky to escape a caution having made two late tackles in the first half. Better and more influential after the interval.
Calvin Miller 6 - Danced past Barrow right-back Brad Barry a couple of times in the second period, but was too much of a peripheral figure. This can however be partially attributed to the fact that Town didn't get the ball to him as much as he would probably have liked.

Hide AdJon Stead 7 - Put himself about to good effect and provided a focal point for Town attacks. Competed in the air fairly well and did a reasonable job of looking after the ball when operating with his back to goal.

Jack Muldoon 8 - ADVERTISER STAR MAN. A threat all afternoon with his pace, strength and clever movement. Scored one with a clinical finish from a very unlikely angle, had a second ruled out by the referee and came close on a number of other occasions.
