Harrogate Railway run out of steam at home to struggling Prescot Cables

Cables, who were just five points above the relegation zone before the clash, took a shock lead after just two minutes but Railway responded quickly through Lamin Colley’s close range finish three minutes later.

However, Miller’s men could not hold on to the point as a Cable’s free kick twenty minutes from time condemned Railway to their third consecutive defeat.

Miller was full of praise for the visitors after the match and insisted his squad would now ‘draw a line’ under the defeat.

He said: “We have a small squad and you are asking the same players to play week in week out in difficult conditions.

“The lads are aware that in the past we have been looked on as a team that finish in and around the bottom four or five so it’s a great opportunity for us to be a part of history to finish as high as we can.

“We have a good set of lads but we are just lacking resources but we don’t dwell on that and we will regroup at training and prepare ourselves for the game at New Mills.”

New Mills are another side fighting relegation this season so Miller said he is preparing his side to expect another battling performance from a ‘decent’ side who are fighting to stay in the division.

He said: “We beat them 3-0 the last time we met but they are managed by a good friend of mine and they are very shrewd and very tactically aware.

“I said last time that if they had a goal scorer they would be in the top 10. But, we have got players who can run with the ball and can pass the ball so it’s a case of making sure we use that to our advantage.”
