Railway picked up three points for the first time in ten league games in the Evo Stik Division One North.

Two goals in the final ten minutes saw Lee Ashforth’s side come back to claim only their third win of the season and move out of the relegation zone.

Ryan Sharrocks had put Railway ahead in the first half when he raced through and coolly finished.

But Droylsden responded with an equaliser straight after the restart as James Hampson scored from close range.

The former Conference Premier side then went in front when Lee O’Brien scored with a looping header.

Ashforth, who handed Harrogate Town goalkeeper Tom Stewart a debut in place of Tom Goodwin, shuffled his pack with another new signing, Will Peers, making his first appearance for the club.

But it was another substitute who pulled Railway back level as Dan Barrett rounded Droylsden’s goalkeeper.

The vital three points were secured when Barrett found Steve Bromley in the dying moments for the striker top slide in a winner.

Ashforth said: “When we were 1-0 up we were looking well in control of the match, and played really well. It was one of our better performances.

“To go 2-1 down was a bit of a travesty, the goal that put them in front was a looping header which could have gone over the bar, so it was disappointing to go behind.

“We got a good reaction off the players and before we got the goal, we had a few chances. It could have been five or six two, really.

“We made a substitution to bring Rob Worrall off, even though he had played really well. Brommers plays on the last man, and we wanted to put Dan up with him to try get in behind.

“It was always a matter of time before the goal came, and the guys finished it off brilliantly.”
