Victoria have risen from the pits of footballing despair over the last few years and are enjoying a renaissance in second place in Evo-Stik First Division North.

Heading into Saturday’s visit, the former Conference outfit have won their last seven league matches. However, Railway have also hit the ground running this month and Billy Miller’s men welcome them to Station View on the back of a three-game winning streak.

Following the shock 4-1 win at Salford City, Nathan Cartman’s second successive hat-trick downed 10-man Ossett Town 4-0 on Saturday, before the little wizard scored two injury-time goals to knock Goole AFC out of the Doodson Cup on Monday evening (reports online).

Despite his side’s strong form, Miller knows Saturday’s match will present a host of problems.

He said: “We are capable on our day to challenge the best teams in the division but it’s going to be a really difficult afternoon. But if we work hard, stick to the game plan and with Cartman in the form he’s in, you never know.

“We have to look at those games and want to be part of them. It’s another great test for us against one of the better teams in the league. They will provide their own challenge and they are flying high.

“They’ve had their own problems but they have got out of that now and Jim has them playing. The reports are that they are an extremely good footballing side and we are going to have to work hard to get something out of the game. But we have done that this season.”

Harrogate Railway face Northwich Victoria at home on Saturday and not away, as stated in this week’s Harrogate Advertiser.
