Harrogate-based Colin Cooper resigns as Hartlepool United manager

Former England footballer Colin Cooper - who lives in Harrogate - has resigned as manager of Hartlepool United.

Cooper made his decision after the club went bottom of the Football League.

After watching his side go down 3-0 against Carlisle United at Victoria Park, the former Middlesbrough player and coach left his post.

In a brief statement on the club’s website, Hartlepool chairman Ken Hodcroft said: “We would like to thank Colin for his efforts during the last eighteen months.

“We are glad that we gave him his break in management and would like to wish him every success in the future.”
