Despite the home side playing almost the entire match with an outfield player in goal, Town failed to capitalise and lost their fifth league match this campaign.

Former Harrogate goalkeeper Jose de Veiga was forced off through injury in the opening minutes of the match at Aggborough and without a keeper on the bench, substitute Wayne Thomas went between the sticks.

The scores remained goalless until half-time with Town failing to trouble Thomas, who usually plays in defence.

Worcester then took the lead on 67 minutes through Nicky Wright before debutant Jordan Murphy doubled the advantage late on.

The defeat means Town fall to 18th with only Stalybridge Celtic, Tamworth, Gloucester City and Hyde beneath them.

Meanwhile, Harrogate Railway kept up their record of scoring in every game this season despite exiting the FA Trophy at home to Spennymoor Town 3-2.

Spennymoor took a two-goal lead into the break with goals from Shane Henry and former York City striker Liam Henderson.

Malachi Farquharson brought Railway into the game after the break following good link-up play with Nathan Cartman.

However, Spennymoor restored a two-goal cushion shortly after when Michael Roberts rounded Rail’ keeper Karl Dean to score.

Cartman then grabbed his 15th goal of the season as Railway searched for a leveller but, despite a late chance cleared of the line, Billy Miller’s men went out.

Liam Ormsby got the game’s only goal from a first half free-kick before Peter Lawrie saved a penalty to keep Tad ahead.

Knaresborough Town earned three points at Lincoln Moorlands Railway 3-2 thanks to in-form striker Mitchell Hamilton’s brace.

The teenager took his goal tally in October to nine to move Town up to 16th..

Craig Radcliffe scored Knaresborough’s third in the valuable win.
