Goals from Lamin Colley and Adam Baker brought Railway a 2-1 victory over NCEL Premier side Garforth Town on Saturday.

With the preliminary round win, Railway cashed in a much-needed £1,925.

And Railway will fancy their chances of earning another £3,000 in the famous competition after being paired with league rivals Clitheroe in the next round.

The two Evo-Stik Northern League First Division North will come to blows at Station View a week on Saturday (September 13), just five days after they met at the same venue in the league.

“It’s a good draw but equally as good for them. Both teams will look at the draw and think it’s winnable,” said Miller.

“It’s going to be a really interesting tie because we will get a feel for each other on Monday. They have got off to a decent start so I’m sure it’s going to be a hard test.”

Before Clitheroe arrive, however, Miller will march his troops to Burscough on Saturday, a team he fancies his side’s chances against.

Malachi Farquharson will come back into the squad after recovering from injury, and the youngster scored a hat-trick for the newly-formed reserve squad against Eccleshill United last week.

“It’s going to be a difficult game, as it always is,” Miller said. “They will come out and play 4-4-2 and they are well organised. They work hard for each other and their manager.”

Colley and Baker have made an impressive start to the new campaign, and alongside Nathan Cartman, they have formed a lethal three-pronged attack.

And with Rob Youhill returning to fitness Miller remains confident his side have the tools to threaten any defence this year.

The strength of Railway’s strikeforce proved too much for Garforth, and the boss knew how important the victory was for the club.

He added: “It was a decent win, and a well deserved win on Saturday and it could have been a lot more.

“They took the lead because of the wind. We knew it was going to be a difficult first half against the wind but we knew that if we could see it out, we could come through.
