Lloyd Kerry struck the only goal of a game which the visitors had much the better of, a fact that the Bantams boss readily admitted during his post-match media duties.

“They were better than us – we were beaten by a good side," McCall told the Telegraph & Argus.

“We had too many under-performers but we still had opportunities. It was a bad night in a lot of areas and some of our decision-making was poor.

“We started slowly and they won a lot more second balls.

“We went with a midfield diamond to try and control the game but it never really materialised. Harrogate worked ever so hard to stop us playing.

“It was a disappointing result and performance. But take nothing away from Harrogate, I thought they were very good.

“They are a well-oiled unit who know what they are doing and do it well. There’s no doubt they deserved to win.”

Town's victory lifts them up to eighth position in the League Two standings.
