Boss Beesley slams '˜embarrassing' Railway

The Locomotives conceded five times before the interval in Saturday’s NCEL Premier Division clash, leading the player-boss to brand their display “embarrassing.”

“It was just too easy, Handsworth didn’t even have to do anything special to end up with five before half-time,” he added.

“They’re not a bad side, and they are capable of scoring a few goals, but we just rolled over and died.

“Some of our play was suicidal. These lads are getting paid, but we looked like complete amateurs out there. I just can’t have it.”

It took Handsworth less than two minutes to register their first of the afternoon, Aaron Moxam firing home before Simon Harrison doubled the lead soon afterwards.

Moxam struck again in the 26th minute, either side of efforts from Jon Froggatt, as things went from bad to worse for the Rail.

“Liam [Ormsby - Railway’s assistant manager] gave the lads a good dressing down at half-time,” Beesley added.

“The words ‘embarrassing’ and ‘pathetic’ were used, and I would have to agree with what was said.

“It seems we are a genuine Jekyll and Hyde team. We’re either brilliant or dreadful, and rarely anything in-between.”

Moxam and Froggatt both completed their hat-tricks in the second period as Parramore went 7-0 up, and although Beesley’s 67th-minute goal reduced the deficit, he was unable to garner any consolation from the strike.

“There were absolutely no positives to be taken from that game,” he continued.

“The second half wasn’t as awful as the first, but I think that’s probably because Handsworth took their foot off the gas.

“This performance has hurt me. I can’t stand for it and there will be changes. We’re already close to making a new signing who will hopefully help us shore things up at the back.”

Railway will be aiming to bounce back from Saturday’s humbling when they travel to high-flying Pickering Town on Tuesday evening, 7.45pm kick-off at Mill Lane.
