The Wetherby Road outfit had planned to show Sunday's Wembley clash with Notts County on a 25-square-metre screen inside the CNG Stadium, but are no longer able to do so.

Following the latest Government guidelines in relation to Covid-19, Town were contacted by North Yorkshire County Council Public Health, who "strongly advised" that the event should be cancelled.

"We deliberated about what to do and went back to Public Health, but in the end we had no option but to cancel," Plant explained.

"I'm absolutely gutted for the fans. It was fantastic how many of them responded and bought tickets so quickly. It was going to be a great day.

"Honestly, I just feel flat now. So much work has gone into arranging this event and making sure that all the relevant protocols were in place so that everyone would be safe.

"It's also cost the club a small fortune to get everything ready to allow fans into the ground.

"We're so disappointed."

Full refunds for tickets - which sold out in less than 24 hours - will be processed by the club next week.
