Commonwealth Games: Gold again for Laugher

Jack Laugher is celebrating another gold medal at the Commonwealth Games.

The Harrogate-born former Ripon Grammar School pupil, a double champion at the Glasgow 2014 Games, successfully defended his 1m springboard crown on Australia’s Gold Coast on Wednesday morning.

The 23-year-old headed Down Under somehwhat under-cooked in terms of his preparation having spent the winter recovering from ankle surgery, but despite this he eased to victory.

He finished with a score of 438.00 points from his six dives, 25.55 in front of Australia’s James Connor after qualifying for the final in first place.
