The penultimate event of the Fulford Cycles TT League was a lactic-acid inducing one-mile climb of Darley Head.

The climb starts at a steady incline before easing off then tightening to a steep 20 per cent before the finish.

Nova riders took all top five places with sub five minute times.

2010 winner, Simon Ketteringham, was disappointed that 4:57 was only good enough for fifth place.

New Nova recruit Craig Jarratt impressed with 4:51 in fourth place, behind category two racer Dave Morris with 4:45.

Last week’s hill climb winner, Paul Caswell, was second with 4:34, a new vet’s record.

The winner, who last rode this event in 2007, to victory, was Pete Shepherd with a fantastic 4:29.

The final event in the series is the four mile climb of Lofthouse to Scarhouse Dam.

The Team Swift 100 mile TT was abandoned in tragic circumstances when Team Swift’s Len Grayson was struck and killed by a car on the A19 near Thirsk.

Yorkshire Road Club’s Ian Fairweather and Mike Shacklock and Nova’s Duncan Mullier and Ian Peacock were all competing in the event at the time.
