Yorkshire League: Connor Ryan flourishes in Bank Holiday win

Harrogate gave Sheffield Collegiate the Bank Holiday blues as overseas batsman Connor Ryan inspired a 101-run victory at St George’s Road.

The Australian’s 92-ball knock of 84 from the top of the order helped Harrogate post 257 in the opening innings before the bowlers tore into Collegiate’s flaky batting line up.

Gate lost James Latham for a first ball duck before Ryan and Jonny Tattersall (55) shared a century stand.

A mid-order collapse took them from 132-1 to 169-5 before late hitting from the tail boosted them to an imposing total at St George’s Road.

Three-wicket hauls from Tom Geeson-Brown (3-44), Russell White (3-20) and Sam Davies (3-35) then tormented the Collegiate bating order, which collapsed to 156 all out.

Harrogate’s clash with visiting Driffield Town on Saturday was abandoned due to rain.

This weekend, George Ross’ side head to reigning Yorkshire League champions Yorkshire Academy.
