In a rain-reduced fixture against Killinghall, Ouseburn’s class with the ball shone through. Sam Dale took 4-24, as Killinghall were restricted to just 94-6 from 22 overs. Despite two early wickets, Ouse’s Dave Cummings (34no) and John Moorhouse (32no) guided them to a seven-wicket win.

Meanwhile, league leaders Pannal had a frustrating afternoon against Hampsthwaite. The wet weather halted their progress and the umpires called an early end with Pannal on 72-2 from 10 overs. Andrew Taylor had raced to 42 not out.

It could be a case of too little too late for Ouse’, but the weekend’s twist took them 12 points behind Pannal with six matches to go.

Blubberhouses drew ahead in the battle for survival at the bottom with a 10-run success over Alne. Tom Goodday struck a valuable 41 as Blubberhouses were pegged back to 170-9 batting first, mainly due to Toby Stirke and Edward Myers sharing eight wickets equally between them.

Myers then struck 41 to give Alne a chance, but Umar Jamil took a crucial 4-35 as the innings ended on 160-8.

Darley failed to stay above Blubbs after a 27-run loss at Spofforth. Spoff blazed from the off as they posted 160 from 21.4 overs. Dave Bird compiled 44 not out in Darley’s response, but the run rate proved too slow.

Ryan Lamb smacked 46 not out from just 23 balls as Bishop Thornton totalled 161-6 to beat Burton Leonard by 39 runs. Leonard struggled to find the boundary in their response and Will Wray led Thornton’s attack with 3-23.

Bottom side Newby Hall fell closer to the trap door after an eight-wicket defeat to Helperby. Dave Henstock (47) and Mike Shires (34) gave Newby a strong start that they failed to capitalise on in making 160 from 34.4 overs. Charlie Grasby took five wickets.

In reply, Luis Rees-Hughes fashioned an unbeaten 70.

The rain showers boosted West Tanfield’s Division Two title push, as the grudge match between second-placed Pateley Bridge and third-placed Knaresborough Forest was washed out.

Tanfield earned a simple eight-wicket win over Lofthouse and Middlesmoor as half centuries from Sam Abel (59no) and Andrew Hodgkinson (51no) took them over a modest 145 all out. Tom Hope had earlier done the damage with 4-33, while Stuart Burton made 51.

Scotton got the better of a low-scoring game against Ripley thanks to Iain Campbell’s 5-5. Campbell skittled Ripley for just 58, after Sam Halliday’s 46 helped Scotton post 117-8.

Studley Royal 2nds took a seven-wicket victory against Masham. Andy Smith (68) and Ben Fielding (49) took Masham to 162-3. Justin Perkins cracked an unbeaten 88 in Royal’s victorious reply.

Goldsborough collected maximum points with a four-wicket win over Dacre Banks, surpassing 141.

Ripon 2nds could only muster 60-6 in 25 overs against Birstwith, a total the visitors reached in just 65 balls.
