Nidderdale League: 15-year-old stars as Pannal’s unbeaten start falls at Burton Leonard

Robinson was the mainstay at the top of the order as he led Leonard past Pannal’s monster total of 291-5 with a half century.

Rob Ellis took his runs tally to 785 with a 122-ball century in Pannal’s opening effort, which was finished off by John Strover’s half century.

Unconcerned by the task in hand, Leonard were led out of the blocks by James Townsend’s 22-ball 44 before Sam Crompton (60) shared a ton stand with Robinson for the third wicket.

Ollie Driver took five wickets to give Pannal a sniff of victory, but Pete Townsend ensured an end to the league leader’s eight-match winning streak with 34 not out – Leonard winning by four wickets with 2.3 overs in hand.

A 204-run stand saw reigning champions Ouseburn close the gap at the top to six points with a 10-wicket triumph over Hampsthwaite.
Sam Dale led the way on 120 not out to prove indestructible alongside Tim Smith (76no) as Ouse’ bettered Hamps’ modest 200-9.

Killinghall struggled to cope with Helperby’s Atish Chouhan and Alistair Darnell’s bowling as they were ousted for just 163 having won the toss and batted on their home patch.

Chouhan looked to have given Helperby the perfect foundation with 41, but his side slipped to 129-8 in their chase. Tom Spilman rescued the situation as his unbeaten 24 sent Helperby to a two-wicket victory.

Darley grabbed a win at fellow strugglers Newby Hall thanks to Michael Beecroft’s four wickets.

Matt Sands’ patient 41 was the top knock as Darley reached their target of 163 with five wickets in hand.

Blubberhouses remain inside the bottom two despite a brave chase against Spofforth, losing by 40 runs.

Joe Horner (73) and James Roberts (70) were the stars as Spofforth made 278-5. Luke Davis (53) was the only Blubbs’ batsman to raise his bat as they finished on 238-9.

Despite an opening stand of 125, Alne crashed to a five-wicket loss against fellow mid-table side Bishop Thornton.

Jim Kenny (80) and Paul Hutchinson (68) gave Alne a lightning start but wickets tumbled and from 181-2 they were all out for 234, Josh Chandler taking 4-59.

Rob Nelson made a quick-fire half century in response before Chandler completed the job he had earlier started with a composed 63 not out.

Birtwith and West Tanfield are locked on 35 points at the top of Division Two.

Ripon 2nds’ modest total of just 176-6 was not enough to concern neighbours Tanfield who raced to the total with the loss of only two wickets.

Richard Moss made 62 from number five for Ripon but Andrew Hogan’s three wickets stifled the batting progress. Hogan then made an unbeaten 44 alongside Sam Abel (73) and Adam Hodkinson (43) as Tanfield eased to the total.

Birtwith’s six-way attack blitzed Dacre Banks away for just 109 after winning the toss. Tom Croston’s unbeaten 43 ensured Birstwith won by six wickets.

Knaresborough Forest remain in hot pursuit of a promotion place thanks to Aussie Aaron Brunner’s third century of the season.

Brunner enjoyed a near-perfect afternoon. He took six Masham wickets in an 11-over burst before striking 120 to chase down Masham’s strong score of 252-9.

Kyle Coetzee looked to have set fourth-placed Masham up for victory, but Brunner, Matt Parker (50) and Jack Martin (66no) found batting easy to collect the win in 29 overs.

Studley Royal successfully defended their modest total of 136 against Goldsborough. Golds’ skipper Graham Shorter took 3-31 and was then the last man standing on 21 not out, as Ollie Schofield took five wickets and Justin Perkins four to bowl Studley to an eight-run triumph.

Pateley Bridge and Ripley also played out a thriller, with the former collecting a seven-run win, thanks in part to Thomas Simpson and Miles Sutton who both made fifties as Bridge totalled 190-6.

Lofthouse and Middlesmoor got the prize wicket of star Australian Dan Major for 19, but they were unable to hold off Scotton who took a five-wicket win.

A 170-run partnership between Chris Lloyd and Ian Morland took Scotton from a perilous 88-4 towards Lofthouse’s 272-8, before Morland struck the winning runs to raise his bat on 105.
