Harry Dawson’s selection to the Yorkshire U11B squad came after a number of strong performances for North Yorkshire in the recent Yorkshire Cricket Board Festival.

In this competition, Harry and his teammates were unbeaten against their West, East and South Yorkshire rivals. As a member of the Yorkshire U11B side, the 11-year-old from Blubberhouses will play between 15 and 18 games against some of the toughest opposition in the country, including a five-day summer tour to the Minor Counties Festival to be held at Royal Suffolk Hospital School.

In addition to his call-up to the Yorkshire B side, Harry will continue to play for North Yorkshire, Knaresborough U13s and U11s, and his own school side.

Harry said: “I’m delighted to be selected for Yorkshire U11Bs, and I hope I can impress enough to be promoted to the A team. My sights are set on playing for North of England, but I’m a couple of years away from that happening. My ultimate goal is to represent England.”

Ashville Junior School headteacher Simon Bailey said: “We are delighted for Harry. He is a fantastic young cricketer and being selected to play for Yorkshire is a massive honour.

“He was chosen for Yorkshire because his spin bowling caught the eye of the selectors. Even though the season is only just under way, he has already taken more than 12 wickets for Knaresborough.”
