Harrogate fired up ahead of Yorkshire League T20 Finals Day

Out of form Harrogate will bid to bounce back to their best in their favoured format of the game on Sunday when they head to Doncaster for the Yorkshire League T20 finals day.

Ross’ men have lost three of their last four matches in the league – a run which has halted their bid for a first league title in ten years.

However, with a bye in the league this Saturday, the captain and his charges can focus solely on the shortest form of cricket.

Cleethorpes will be Harrogate’s opponents in the afternoon’s semi-final with either York or Saturday’s victors Barnsley awaiting in the final for the winner

Ross said success on their grand day out to South Yorkshire would kick-start their flailing title bid.

He said: “Twenty20 is always a remedy for any batsman in a rut and not quite in form.

“They can just play with a little more freedom and try and go from the word go. It might just be perfect for them.”

The captain has targeted the T20 competition from the word go this campaign, and admitted slipping up on Sunday would be a huge disappointment for all at St George’s Road.

He added: “I have tried to be cautious in my expectations in the league seeing as though we have a new team. With the T20, I have said all the way that our team are suited for it.

“We have to go in with confidence that we can pull off two good victories.

“We haven’t played against Cleethorpes yet this season and I have never played them in T20 so I don’t know what to expect. But we have to focus on our strengths.”
