Josh Atkinson struck a superb century to guide Harrogate CC to a two-wicket success over Driffield Town.
The Roosters had gone six ECB Yorkshire Premier League North games without a win prior to last weekend’s trip to Sessay, but now have back-to-back victories to their name following Saturday’s triumph at St George’s Road.
And it was a fine knock from Atkinson that saw them over the line, ‘Gate’s number three coming to the crease early on in his side’s reply and batting almost the entirety of their innings.
Earlier, George Ross’ men had reduced their visitors to 67/5, but Town rallied and managed to post a competitive score of 205/9 in the end.
All of the home attack played their part with Ross (2-25), Jon MacGregor (2-39) and Ash Griffin (2-41) each bagging a brace of scalps.
The Harrogate response got off to a similarly poor start and victory looked more than unlikely when their fifth wicket went down with only 59 runs on the scoreboard.
The Roosters have struggled for form with the bat at times in 2018, but a determined effort from Atkinson saw him hit 102 from just 125 balls and when he was eventually dismissed, he had already taken the hosts to within touching distance of their target.
Griffin also chipped in, adding a valuable 33 not out as ‘Gate made it home with 7.2 overs to spare.
