Aire-Wharfe League: Foot’ snare bowling points as Bilton and Beckwithshaw are left frustrated on rain affected weekend

Follifoot were left to rue the weather as they were denied a fourth straight win in Aire-Wharfe Division Two.

‘Foot had bowled Tong Park Esholt out for just 122 thanks to deadly bowling from Umer Yaqoob (5-28) and Mohammad Bilal (2-19).

But the reply was stunted by the rain early on.

Skipper Nick Robinson was out to the first ball, but only nine balls were possible before the weather intervened, with Follifoot on 0-1.

However the new points system in the Aire-Wharfe meant by bowling the opposition out, Robinson’s side claimed maximum bowling points. Along with the three for a draw, the maximum of five bowling points meant Follifoot pulled further away at the top.

Knaresborough also managed to sneak bonus points, as they reduced Colton to 111-6 in the only play.

The three points meant they move above Adel, into third place. Elsewhere, there was no play for Beckwithshaw or Bilton in Division One as the weather got the better of the weekend.

This Saturday, Beckwithshaw travel to Collingham and Bilton entertain Burley. Follifoot tackle Green Lane away and Knaresborough host Upper Wharfedale in Division One.
