Final race of the Dales series is a hit for Runners

The final race of the Yorkshire Dales Race Series took place at Burton Leonard.

The multi terrain friendly village race was once again tremendously orgnised by the Wilks family and the race commitee. Ripon Runner Mike Appleton completed a hat-trick of recent 10k wins by claiming first place from rivals Lee Dalton of Nidd Valley and Harrogate Harrier Chris Miller.

Mike’s winning time was 35.22. Donna Riddler was second female home in a time of 44.43.

Alex Fawcett took the prize as first over 40 male completong the run ninth overall in 40.22, with Maggie Driffield also taking the prize as second female in her age category in a time of 69.00.

Dave Topping was the first local male home in 42.34, with Mel Dutka second local female in 69.32, beaten to first place by daughter Hanna in 69.14. Ripon’s other runners completing the course were Steve Smith 42.47, Gary Wilks 43.43, Nigel Bower 51.15, Chris I’Anson 54.23, Julie Merrin 56.04, Robin Kehoe 56.52, Michael Wray 57.26, Vicky Clayton 57.51, Annette Stainthorpe 58.03, Hilary Gilliam 60.40, Simon McCudden 73.43.

At the Ripon Black Sheep Triathlon on Saturday, Stuart Wallace was the first Ripon Runner to finish in a time of 2.35.41, followed by Iain Wallace in 2.38.12, Caroline Bentham 3.03.10, Lena Conlin 3.07.41, Mel Dutka 4.12.42.
