How would you describe your new collection?

“Cheerful! It’s an eight-piece series celebrating all animals – from furry to feathery and everything in between. Each piece highlights the unique beauty of creatures around us, some often overlooked.”

What inspired this collection? “I’m lucky to be surrounded by nature and animals. This collection is inspired by the countryside around me and the animals featured in The Yorkshire Vet. Watching the vets care for these animals made me appreciate the joy they bring to our lives.”

Do you have any furry friends? “Yes! I have a little Jack Russell named Patsy. She loves to snuggle by my feet while I paint and always gives the best welcomes after a long day at the office.”

If Patsy could talk, what would she say about your artwork? “She’d probably ask why I haven’t made a series all about her!”

Which piece from the new collection are you most drawn to right now?

“‘Spag and Hetti’. I just love the curly spaghetti-like coats and sooty black faces of this particular breed of sheep. They have so much character and I loved painting them. I also love being around hills and lakes and absolutely love a good view, so this painting is my favourite in the collection.”

What’s your creative process like when you start a new collection?

“I start with an idea but let it evolve as I gather inspiration, often from walks in the countryside with my family. I sketch it out, blending structure with spontaneity. Watching it come to life is one of my favourite parts.”

Lastly, if you had a free day to do anything – no painting, no work – what would you do?

“Easy! I’d spend the day outside with my husband Neil, our teenage twins, and Patsy. Maybe we’d have a picnic. If I’m not painting, I’m usually out enjoying nature – it’s my happy place.”
