Wowcher's popular "mystery holiday" deal is back for just £99 - but in the age of coronavirus, is it safe to purchase one?

The £99 offer sees buyers place their faith in someone else to choose their holiday destination, meaning they could end up travelling as far as Barbados for less than £100 per person. The deal includes flights and accommodation - with options to upgrade - and holidays can last anywhere between two and seven nights.

Buyers can expect to be flown out to one of over 40 destinations up for grabs, including popular European destinations like Prague and Berlin, as well as far-flung spots in Barbados and the Bahamas.

The total cost of the holiday will be more than £99, however, as the fine print of the deal states that the price is based on two people travelling, meaning two vouchers must be purchased - one for each guest.

Is it safe to sign up for a mystery holiday?

Travellers must choose from selected dates between September 2020 and March 2021, and cannot change the destination once picked out for them. For departures in August 2020, or departures between April and July 2021, the price is £129 per person. The package is ATOL protected.

Wowcher has assured customers that they will be offered a "suitable alternative" if the destination offered to them is added to the UK quarantine list.

The fine print of the deal reads, "In the event that government-issued advice advises against travel to your Mystery Destination due to the coronavirus pandemic, Weekender Breaks will offer you alternative destination options."

When will I find out where I'm going?

The draw of destinations will take place on 14 August, and customers will be notified shortly after that date about which destination they're heading to.

Wowcher assures customers that they'll be able to "enjoy a holiday in a destination knowing these countries have been approved for visiting without quarantine upon return."

You can check out the full terms and conditions of the voucher, and purchase one, on the Wowcher website.
