Cast your vote for the UK's top Family Friendly Destination 2020
Families in the UK are longing to go on holiday but are prevented to do so by lockdown restrictions.
So staycations could be big business this year when the curbs on domestic travelare lifted.
A holiday rental company has launched a competition to find the nation’s top family destination.
More than 500 British families put forward ideas, based on factors including entertainment, variety of food services and safety.
Eighteen locations have been selected and are competing in three categories - seaside, rural and urban.
Most of the finalists can be found in England while two Welsh communities, Conwy and Tenby, represent seaside and rural respectively.
Edinburgh is the only Scottish finalist in the competition, with the historic capital in the final of the urban category.
The remaining 15 on the shortlist from across England include Torquay, Scarborough, Brighton and Keswick.
Families can now vote for the UK's most “Family Friendly Destination 2020", with voting open until June 25, 2020. Go to www.homeaway.co.uk/info/family-friendly-destinations-2020
Karen Mullins, regional director UK & Ireland at HomeAway, said: “With the school summer holidays fast approaching, many British families will be shifting their 2020 travel plans from their usual European favourites such as Portugal, Spain and Italy to opt for a UK staycation instead.
“Our Family Friendly Destinations campaign aims to support them when deciding which corner of Britain to explore when it is safe to do so again and to ensure the whole family feels secure on their travels."
