On 14 February, Caroline Flack’s ex-fiance Andrew Brady shared an open letter in which he described her as “a beautiful soul” and shared a playlist of songs the pair used to listen to.

It has been one year since the Love Island presenter and Strictly Come Dancing winner took her own life on 15 February 2020.

The anniversary of her death has been acknowledged by many of her friends, fans and co-hosts, who have asked people to ‘be kind’ - a phrase Flack used on her Instagram account in the months before her death.

So, where can you listen to the playlist and what did Brady say about Flack? This is what you need to know.

What did Brady’s letter to Flack say?

On Valentine’s Day, the former Apprentice and Celebrity Big Brother star penned a letter to Flack, reflecting on their relationship and how much she meant to him.

In the letter, he wrote: “Tomorrow is the one year anniversary of Caroline’s death, the person I loved more than anyone I ever thought possible.

"Not a day goes by that I don’t think of her, I have some truly incredible memories of her etched on to my mind for eternity.

"Like every couple, we had our problems... we both made some huge mistakes and we both hurt each other deeply."

Brady had been living in Australia when he received the news that Flack had died at her London home. The couple had split in early 2019.

He continued: "Caroline had a beautiful soul, a perfect smile, a contagious laugh, an interesting story and she had an incredibly complex mind.

"She had such a unique energy and presence, like nothing I have felt.

"She was so talented, she was so intelligent, she was so friendly and she was so beautiful.

"But her heart, that was trapped in barbed wire from all the negativity and judgement she sustained for so long.

“The times I managed to open that heart and see what was inside it was like nothing I have ever felt.

"When it was rough, it was bad but when it was good, it was the most beautiful thing I have witnessed and it filled my heart with nothing but happiness and love.”

He then said he was grateful to her for "showing me that feeling and that’ll never be forgotten,” before describing being alone with her and their dog, Ruby, as “his happy place”.

Brady described his ex-fiance as a keen music fan, saying: "Caroline loved music, she hogged the mic and tore it up every time. It became known as CarrieOKE,” as he shared a public playlist he made of songs the couple enjoyed together and some which remind him of her.

The ex-Apprentice contestant wrote: "You decide how your party goes but please listen to a few songs at the top and share the love we once felt for each other. It was magical – Mrs. By Leon Bridges – was our song.

“If you shut your eyes and just listen you might just understand how I felt and how I still feel about her.

"She was so hurt and she didn’t deserve any of this. She really was that one in a billion who I will continue to love and miss until my last day on this weird little waking planet we live on. I have faith in you all.”

He finished his personal note to the star, by asking her fans to “Be the change."

What songs are on the playlist?

The playlist, shared by Brady’s Spotify account @loveandhonesty69 has tributes to the TV presenter from her ex-partner.

The first songs included on the playlist include ‘Your Song’ by Elton John, ‘Sweet Caroline’ by Neil Diamond, ‘She used to be Mine’ by Sarah Bareilles and a remastered version of ‘Stand By Me’ by Ben E. King.

Brady asked those wishing to remember her and how much she meant to him “ listen to a few songs at the top and share the love we once felt for each other.”

Other songs listed include ‘She’s Always a Woman’ by Billy Joel and ‘Respect’ by Aretha Franklin.

There are a total of 188 songs shared on the CarrieOKE playlist.

Where can I listen to the playlist?

To access the Spotify playlist, you must have a subscription to the app. You can then type into the search bar ‘CarrieOKE’ and the playlist is the first to feature.

How have other friends remembered Caroline Flack?

Flack was best known professionally for her role as the presenter of ITV’s Love Island.

On 15 February, the official Twitter account of Love Island and ITV shared a picture tribute to the presenter, writing: ‘Remembering Caroline 1979-2020 Always in our hearts.’

The tweet was retweeted by thousands of people and many commented their admiration for her, while writing ‘be kind’, in tribute to a message Flack posted on Instagram in 2019.

Her close friend and fellow TV host, Laura Whitmore also shared a touching picture to her Instagram account which read: “You’ve got to laugh a little cry a little until the clouds roll by a little” - lyrics from The Glory of Love.
