Christkindelmarkt - Leeds (Until 20 December)

Set in Millennium Square, this Christmas market is popular for its stalls, rides and lighting. Brings a taste of Germany into the heart of Leeds.

Sheffield Christmas Market - Sheffield (Until 24 December)

Meeting Santa in his Lapland Cabin and stocking up on gifts are two of the attractions in Fargate. Wooden cabins, full of goodies, will line the streets.

St Nicholas Fayre - York (Until December 23)

The chalets - more than 100 of them - and fairy lights will help bring cheer to the familiar market areas. Parliament Street and St Sampson’s Square are places to go.

Grassington Dickensian Christmas Festival - Grassington (December 12 and December 19)

Turn the clock back to the Dickens era and enter a world of buskers, shoe-shiners and pickpockets. There are sights and smells from a bygone era.

Skipton Yuletide Festival and Christmas Market - Skipton (December 13)

Running the length of the High Street, there will be much to savour at Skipton’s market area. Entertainment can be enjoyed and food stalls are there to sample.

Christmas Foodies Festival - Harrogate (December 11-13)

Culinary delights, including vegan and gluten-free options, can be tasted and a Champagne Ski Bar will be open. Acclaimed chefs and cooks are involved.

Castle Howard’s Stable Courtyard - York (Until December 23)

The cobbled courtyard will be transformed with the presence of stalls and the chance to relish handmade and locally-produced food. Other gifts are available too.

Beverley Festival of Christmas - Beverley (December 13)

Bernese mountain dogs and falconry are among the attractions alongside stilt walkers and a classic car rally. Music and dance is also on offer.

Tennants Gardens Rooms - Leyburn (December 18-19)

Designers and artisans offer a range that includes jewellery and homewares. Mulled wine and mince pies are served in front of the impressive backdrop of a sweeping staircase.

Malton Christmas Food Market - Malton (December 12)

There are continental treats from Germany, Italy and France. The market boasts more than 45 food stalls and carols will be sung for an hour from 11.20am.
