Witness appeal after fatal Scotton crash

Police have appealed for witnesses to a fatal collision to come forward with vital information.

The collision on Hauxwell Lane, Scotton, near Catterick Garrison, left a man dead on Monday August 17.

The collision which happened around 1.45pm, involved a yellow-coloured rigid HGV and a green-coloured Ford Focus estate car.

The driver of the car sustained fatal injuries and was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.

Police are appealing for any witnesses to the collision or anyone who saw either vehicle prior to the incident to come forward.

In particular, officers are keen to speak to a couple in a red-coloured vehicle who stopped a community support officer near to the collision to inform them of the incident and to a cyclist who stopped at the scene.

Officers appealed for the couple to come forward on Twitter and also tweeted about the importance of the investigation.
