Open Gardens: we were blessed with good weather for the flower festival in church and open gardens at the end of May and the village had many friendly and charming visitors over that period. That and a lot of hard work by very many people raised around £8,000 for the two churches in our parish. Very many thanks are due to all involved in this great community effort.
Medic Malawi: the rain kept away for the Medic Malawi tea party too and £645 was raised to send to the charity that supports a hospital and outreach in Mthunthama, Malawi. Thank you very much for your very generous and loyal support for this charity.
Jazz Picnic and Open Garden: Steve and Dee invite you to join them in the garden of Beverly House, Stonegate, for an afternoon of jazz, fizz and strawberries on Sunday, July 7 from 2-5pm. Entrance is by ticket only - £12.50 adults, children £6. Telehone 01423 330639 to book. The proceeds will be shared between NYWAG and the Church of the Ascension.
Ali Baba and the Faulty Thieves: and now for something completely different. There will be a preliminary meeting for the Whixley pantomime on Sunday, July 21 at 7.30pm in the village hall. Ali Baba and …………….! is scheduled for early February 2014 and rehearsals will begin in September. Anyone is welcome to come and see if this is their ‘thing’ and it will be a fun evening out. It doesn’t matter if you are inexperienced, a star or a fading star - panto is a great leveller. (Oh yes it is). Telephone Barry, 01423 331419 for further details. Come on, release your inner self!
