Wetherby's dog-friendly hotel hosts feast for four-legged friends

The show, which attracts hundreds of Britain’s top breeders and their precious pets, is an important day in the calendar for the Days Inn Hotel, Wetherby.

But the pedigree pooches were in for a surprise this year when the hotel chef created the Days Inn 'doggy menu', packed with canine-inspired dishes to suit the fussiest of four legged guests.

Days Inn General Manager, Clair Sidebottom, said: "We welcome dozens of dogs and their owners into the hotel over the weekend of the dog show. It is an incredibly important event in their calendar.

"We know how well looked after these dogs are and thought it would be a good idea to serve up a special menu just for the dogs. It's taken quite a lot of thinking up and we enlisted our own dogs as taste testers."

Hailed as one of the UK's top dog-friendly hotels, the Days Inn laid on a mouthwatering array of mutt munchies including pooch porridge, terrier toast and eggs bonio for the hungry hounds.

All dogs staying at the hotel are given their own bowls and beds and now the new mutt menu might even become a permanent fixture of the hotel's dog friendly offering.

Ben Gray, a championship breeder of Newfoundland dogs, stayed at the hotel with his eight month old puppy, Maddie.

He said “Our dogs love coming to the Days Inn, we are all made to feel so welcome. The dogs are given their own bowls, beds and now the new snacks.

"It is quite exceptional service and the dogs even get their own welcome letter from the manager.”

The 129-bed hotel is a popular resting place for travellers attending Wetherby races, Leeds festival and other annual events.
