Wetherby girl in LA stars alongside big names

A Wetherby actress who moved to the States in search of success has seemingly found it after landing a role with famous actor and film director, James Franco.

Amy Harvey moved to Los Angeles last July on an acting scholarship, in the hope of making it big in the film industry.

But now the small town girl has secured a role in the next production by accomplished American actor and film-maker, James Franco.

Miss Harvey said: "I'm honestly so excited for the future and never take for granted that I am doing what I love as a career. Things are happening for me quickly and to be able to say I've now worked with James Franco is fantastic!"

Franco is best known for his leading part in a number of films including 127 Hours and Rise of the Planet of the Apes as well as co-directing the controversial film The Interview.

But now Franco is said to be working on his next film, called The Mad Whale, and Amy will have her part to play.

Set in 1890's Massachusetts the gritty film involves a mental asylum and an underground female fight club where Amy will play one of the fighters named Jenny.

Landing the role in February, Amy started filming in early March and said the part has given her some valuable experience for the kind of acting she wants to pursue.

She said: "It was really great fun to film the fighting scenes and I got to work with a stunt choreographer and learn a lot of physical techniques.

"This was awesome for me as action movies are really where I want my career to go."

The action movie is said to be a co-production between Franco's company, Rabbit Bandini and the USC Film School and is set to be released this summer.

But the excitement for Amy doesn't stop there..

Having already filmed a number of productions set all over America, Amy continues to secure roles on future films to come.

Amy said: "I've just found out that I've been cast in an independent film shooting in New Mexico this year.

"It's about a 13 year old girl who gets taken and forced into sex trafficking. I play the girl who befriended her, tricked her and organised the abducting of her which is very exciting as I have never played the villain before."

Busy at work with various projects, it seems like Amy Harvey is Wetherby's very own 'one to watch'.
