A three course traditional Christmas lunch with roast turkey and all of the trimmings will be served at 12:30pm.

Around 90 people are expected to attend the popular festive occasion, and the lunch will be followed by some light entertainment as well as carol singing.

Christmas cake and mince pies with tea or coffee will also be served, and the event is usually rounded off at 3pm.

Transport can be provided for those who need it in the Harrogate and Knaresborough local areas. Two Happy Wanderers buses will be in use for those with wheelchairs.

Guests are also invited to join in with the Christmas Day service at 11am in the Chapel upstairs before the lunch, which then takes place in the Lower Hall.

Organisers are urging people to spread the word about the lunch. The first lunch was held in 1984 and the occasion has continued to grow in its popularity ever since.

Philip Goodwin said: “This is the 32nd year that Wesley Chapel has provided a free meal on Christmas Day and the church and Wesley Centre are pleased to be able to make such good use of its excellent kitchen and entertainment facilities.”

Guests come from across the Harrogate and Knaresborough district, with many coming back to enjoy the hospitality and festive celebrations year after year.

Wesley Chapel is on Oxford Street in Harrogate. The lunch is free of charge, but booking is essential, and only requires a phone call to Philip Goodman on: 01423 563990.
