Weather warning as heavy rain hits Harrogate district this weekend

After a spell of icy weather, it's time to pull out the raincoats again as heavy rain is forecast for the district this Saturday.

The Met Office has put a yellow weather warning for rain in place from 4am to 11.59pm on Saturday, November 23, advising of 'persistent rain leading to some flooding and disruption.'

What to expect, according to the Met Office

Heavy rain is expected across the district on Saturday, November 23.

Flooding of a few homes and businesses is likely

Bus and train services probably affected with journey times taking longer

Spray and flooding on roads probably making journey times longer

Some interruption to power supplies and other services likely

4am-6am - 60 per cent

6am-8am - 90 per cent

8am-12pm - More than 95 per cent

1pm-6pm - 90 per cent

6pm-8pm - 80 per cent

8pm-12am - 60 per cent

A statement from the Met Office says: "Following a spell of rain later on Friday, more persistent rain will arrive from the south early on Saturday morning and last through most of the day. The rain will be heavy at times, especially on hills. 15 to 25 mm is likely to fall quite widely, with 40 to 50 mm possible over high ground. The rain will slowly ease and then clear from the south on Saturday evening."
