With the Met Office putting a yellow weather warning for snow in place until Wednesday, residents are being warned of disruptions on the road and to avoid travelling where possible.

The county council tweeted: "Please only travel if your journey is essential and take extra care if you do travel."

Heavier snow showers are forecast for the rest of the day, with more set to come throughout the week as Storm Darcy continues.

Forecasters sat tonight will remain very cold and mostly cloudy with temperatures dropping to -2C, and there will still be some risk of snow flurries during the night, though these are set to ease progressively.
