WATCH: Singer Michael Ball busking in Harrogate

Chart-topping entertainer, Michael Ball, has been spotted busking in Harrogate today.

The singing sensation attracted a crowd performing Pharrell William’s ‘Happy’ on the corner of Albert Street.

James Verity from Verity Frearson estate agent said: “He was just sat there drumming on a bucket and singing.

“Someone in the office recognised him and we had a google to check. He was quite good!”

The singer was followed by a camera crew, sparking speculation that he was in the town to film a music video.

Josh Tindell account manager at RAW creative took the above video on his phone.

He said: “It is not what you see every day in Harrogate, it made the day.

“Someone in our office recognised him straight away, he was there for about half an hour.”

Lesley Tunbridge, owner of LMDC espresso bar, rewarded the crooner with a free coffee after his performance.

She said: “He was lovely and very polite, two customers came in and they were excited that they had seen him.

“I didn’t believe them at first, I thought ‘Why would he be in Harrogate?’”

Michael Ball is best known for his 1989 hit, Love Changes Everything, and his musical theatre roles which have included Marius in Les Misérables, Edna Turnblad in Hairspray and most recently Sweeney Todd in Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street which won him an Olivier award.
