Walks diary for the week ahead
Harrogate Rambling Club
During the winter months when we tend not to drive too far away for our walks, we have the opportunity to discover footpaths and bridleways much closer to home – you would be surprised to find so many that you didn’t know existed!
We walk on Sundays and Wednesdays throughout the year, and offer walks to suit all levels of ability.
On Sunday, February 2 there are two walks in the programme. The ‘B’ group meet in Ripley for an 11 mile ramble around lower Nidderdale, whilst the ‘C/D’ members also start in Ripley for a shorter walk of six and a half miles around a similar area. On Wednesday, February 5 there are six walks to choose from. The ‘A’ members start a 12.5 mile hike in West Tanfield visiting Grewelthorpe and Mickley, whilst the ‘B+’ group meet at Bolton Bridge for an 11 mile ramble to Bolton Abbey, Eastby and Draughton. The ‘B’ walkers start a 10 mile ramble in Burn Bridge which takes in North Rigton and Almscliff Crag, whilst the ‘C’ group travel to Bingley to start a seven mile walk to Marley Brow and Alter Wood. Meanwhile the ‘D’ members meet in Fulwith Mill Lane and head off seven miles to Rudding Dower and Follifoot, whilst the ‘E’ group catch the No. 7 bus to Boston Spa to walk four miles along the river Wharfe to Thorp Arch.
