Chatsworth Florist: Jonathan Moseley, certainly wowed his audience at last week’s Christmas floral demonstration at Pateley Bridge Memorial Hall. The successful, well-attended event, hosted by the Upper Nidderdale Flower Club, proved a relaxing, enjoyable evening and the perfect stepping stone to the festive season. At the start of the event, the wrong switch set off the flashing disco lights around the hall and the ensuing hilarity set an ideal atmosphere for Mr Moseley’s sense of humour that followed! He entertained everyone with his stories of competing at Chelsea, where he had met various celebrities, one being Joan Collins and funny incidents whilst working with film crews at Chatsworth House. Mr Moseley inspired his audience by confidently combining stunning, vibrant colours for his creations using such gorgeous flowers as two-tone peach orchids, pink protea, shocking pink and lime green orchids, Columbian roses and huge golden chrysanthemums. Christmas bling was not forgotten, as bright fuschia grasses and glittering purple baubles completed one design which he appropriately named his Pantomime Dame! The talented demonstrator filled the stage to the rafters with his fabulous floral designs resulting in a breathtaking, spectacular finale (pictured above), evoking gasps of delight from his audience. Chairwoman, Doreen Prince gave the vote of thanks, concluding that his arrangements were “just exquisite!” Everyone returned home very happy, especially those who were fortunate enough to win one of Mr Moseley’s displays - even though it was a bit of a squeeze fitting them in the car!
Lofthouse School News: from headteacher, Milena Vjestica: “On Friday, November 23, we held an anti-bullying party to raise money for the charity, Beat Bullying, which raised £59. The children read out poems and the infants performed a song and dance based on anti-bullying. Parents and the community were also invited to the event which helped us to raise awareness of any problems they might experience in the future. Our forthcoming Nativity production will be held on Monday, December 10 at 2pm when Lofthouse School will be performing the Magical Christmas Jigsaw at Lofthouse Chapel. A second performance will be held on Tuesday, December 11 at 10am. The community/friends are all very welcome to attend.”
