Strong winds, from the storm which is travelling across the UK, had damaged the roof of Waitrose supermarket and caused pieces to come loose.

Police had temporarily closed the road as a precaution to protect public safety, and appealed on Twitter for traffic to take an alternative route.

Witnesses reported that the fire service attended the scene to remove the loose pieces of roofing and police have now re-opened the road to the public.
