The focus of the festival was rugby skill development through the matches played and also coaching by Yorkshire Carnegie Rugby Club.

The teams - Brackenfield A and B, Richmond House, Belmont Grosvenor, Froebelian, Lady Lane Park, Highfield, and Terrington Hall - played each other in 15 minute matches and benefited from coaching inbetween.

Head of Games at Brackenfield, Mr Olesqui said: “It was fabulous to welcome so many schools to our first rugby festival.

“I was really pleased that they participated in the true spirit of the afternoon, learning and developing their rugby skills.

“I would like to especially thank Yorkshire Carnegie Rugby Club for their valued contribution in coaching during the afternoon.

“Knaresborough Rugby Club were the perfect hosts providing an ideal venue and I would like to thank them for making us all feel so welcome.”

All players were given tickets to the Yorkshire Carnegie v London Irish match.
