Tributes to Thorner crash victims

Police have named the two young women who died in a car crash in Thorner.

Sacha Holmes and Tori Wilson, both aged 30, died in the crash on Carr Lane in the early hours of Thursday, October 29.

The black Renault Clio had crashed into a tree.

Police received a call from paramedics at the scene of the crash at 7.30am but despite receiving medical treatment, the two women died at the scene.

And police believe the crash happened at 1am but the alarm was not raised until 7.30am.

Officers are appealing for anyone who saw or has dashcam footage of the incident to come forward. Officers believe the collision took place around 1am.

Detective Inspector Paul Conroy from the Major Collision Enquiry Team said: “We are continuing to support both families of Tori and Sacha at this difficult time.

“A full investigation is ongoing into the circumstances surrounding this collision.

“I would still like to appeal to anyone who was in the Carr Lane area of Thorner from around 1am and who saw the vehicle to come forward and speak to us.

“We understand that the vehicle was last seen at approximately 00.50 hours on Wyke Ridge Lane, travelling away from Leeds.”

Floral tributes were left at the scene, with bunches of flowers tied to a damaged tree and laid around its base.

Messages of condolence were also shared on the Yorkshire Evening Post’s Facebook page.

Catherine Williams said: “I know one of these ladies. 2 small children left without a mother. So tragic RIP.”

Nicole Fish said: “Rip ladies you will be missed by many, Moortown will never be the same.”

Tori, who had just celebrated her 30th birthday, leaves behind her parents Karen and David, sisters Rebecca and Laura and older brother Oliver.

Tori worked as a carer before becoming a full-time mother to seven-year-old Rowen and four-year-old Ariana.

A GoFundMe appeal which has raised more than £3,500 for funeral costs.
