Born in London, Chas worked as a telecoms engineer and a manager of a book repairer in Norfolk.

He served as a special policeman before coming to Knaresborough in 2000. He was also a volunteer for St John Ambulance for many years.

Knaresborough Lions president Bob Godsell said: "Chas was a member from 200 and, for the 10 years prior to 2016, he was the club's treasurer.

"He was one of our most active members and was a good friend as well as a supportive colleague to all of us. He will be greatly missed."

Chas Brown died on 16 July after a short illness. His funeral will be at 3pm tomorrow, Friday, July 27 at Stonefall Crematorium and afterwards at the Travellers' Rest pub.
