Trek to repay aid for baby Emmy

Fitness gurus at Boston Spa handed over thousands of pounds to help ill babies after undertaking the gruelling Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge.

Some 21 Principal Fitness gym members presented a cheque for £3,622 which will amount to over £4,000 with gift aid after covering 24.5 miles climbing a total of 2,142 metres over Pen-y-ghent, Whernside and Ingleborough in under 12 hours.

The team chose the York Special Care Baby Unit Support Group as their charity as one of their members, James Moss, recently received support from the York unit after his daughter, Emmy, was born 10 weeks premature. Emmy is doing really well and is now back home.

Owner of Principal Fitness, Charlie Hobson, said: “We are so proud to be able to present this cheque to the York SCBU Support Group as I know they gave James and his family so much fantastic support during the six weeks Emmy was in their care.

“The money will go towards ensuring they can continue to keep up the hard work and invaluable care they offer.

“On a personal note, I’d like to say a big well done to all of our members who took part in the Yorkshire 3 Peaks challenge.

“It wasn’t easy and we hit all of the elements during the gruelling 12 hours, even snow. It’s such a fantastic achievement to have so many of members complete it.
