Tributes to missing Leeds dad Troy Ross after body is found in Turkey
Tributes have been paid to missing Leeds dad Troy Ross following the discovery of a body in Turkey.
Holidaymaker Troy disappeared after leaving his hotel in the resort of Fethiye on Saturday, April 30.
Concern for the 28-year-old Seacroft scaffolder has been mounting since a Turkish news website claimed a body had been found in a nine-metre-deep pit in a wooded area near to the hotel.
Now it appears that the worst fears of Troy’s family have been confirmed, with a spokesman for West Yorkshire Police saying today: “[We are] liaising with the Foreign and Commonwealth Office following the discovery of a man’s body in Turkey.
“While the body is yet to be formally identified, we have appointed a family liaison officer to support the family of Troy Ross, from Seacroft, Leeds, who has been reported missing in Turkey.”
Writing on Facebook, Troy’s partner, Deanna Willumsen, 28, of Kippax, said she was “broken”, adding: “I don’t know what to do without him.”
On Twitter, an account called @EastLeedsNewEra tweeted: “Pulled up to the pearly gates Go on my lad heaven awaits Rest In Peace Troy Ross Son, Brother, Dad & Friend to many.”
Deanna last saw her partner when she left their room at about 8.30pm on April 30 to call on a friend who was also a guest at the Jiva Beach Resort hotel.
Troy, who had been drinking, was later caught on CCTV trying to break down the door of the empty room after locking himself out.
He was then was spotted again on CCTV leaving the hotel alone at about 9.30pm.
Speaking last Friday, Deanna said: “I’m just hoping and praying he is safe somewhere and will come home soon.”
She added: “If Troy reads this, then I want him to know that he’s not in any trouble, but please let us know he is alright.”
