To that end it has just launched the HDCCC Residents Survey online.

Kirsty Hallett, HDCCC’s chair of communications and engagement, said: “The commitment of local people to our environment gives the coalition confidence that we will have support from the community as we promote changes which will help residents and businesses in the district to rapidly decarbonise.

"The majority of this will be achieved through reducing our demand for fossil fuel energy in our homes, travel and commerce.

“The responses of local people will help the coalition to ensure that we can helpfully and clearly communicate the information people want to know about how to reduce their carbon footprints.”

The Harrogate District Climate Change Coalition was set up in response to Harrogate Borough Council’s vision that by “2038 we will have a net-zero carbon economy”.

The aim is to engage a wide range of organisations and individuals in collaborative work to achieve the district’s aim of net-zero emissions.

As part of that mission, the council pledged at the time that its own operations “will be clean and efficient, and we will play a positive role enabling the wider district to achieve net-zero emissions’.”

The last available information showed its board members included representatives from: CNG Ltd, Goosemoor Organics, HARCVS, Harrogate Borough Council, Harrogate College, Harrogate District Hospital, Highways England, North Yorkshire County Council, Techbuyer Ltd, University of Leeds, White Rose Forest, Zero Carbon Harrogate.
