More Dales bus routes between Harrogate, Pateley Bridge and Nidderdale AONB resume this weekend

Weekend bus services in Pateley Bridge and Harrogate will be improved this month when some routes make a return as lockdown eases even further.

A Sunday and Bank Holiday service will resume on service 24 between Harrogate and Pateley Bridge from May 16, meaning buses will once again run to Nidderdale Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty seven days a week. The Eastern DalesBus 825 - which will go all the way to Richmond this year - will resume on the same day, followed by Saturday buses to Bolton Bridge and Skipton from May 22.

On Sundays and Bank Holidays, buses will run from Harrogate at 10.20am, 1.20pm and 3.30pm, returning from Pateley Bridge at 11.15am, 2.15pm and 4.25pm. These journeys are supported by Dales and Bowland Community Interest Company.

The Eastern DalesBus 825 will leave Harrogate at 10.20am and run via Ripley, Brimham Rocks, Fountains Abbey, Galphay, Grewelthorpe, Hackfall, Masham, Jervaulx Abbey, Middleham and Leyburn to Richmond. The return journey leaves Richmond at 3.05pm.

Single and return tickets are available along with Dales Rover tickets, which offer a day’s unlimited travel at £10 for adults and £18 for groups (up to two adults and three children travelling together). Elderly and disabled concessionary bus passes are not valid for free travel on Eastern DalesBus 825, but passholders pay a maximum single fare of £3 or £5 for a Dales Privilege Rover day’s pass.

A popular and much requested bus service between Harrogate and Skipton will also be returning for the summer 2021 season. DalesBus 59 will run each Saturday from May 22 using a double decker bus to provide great views and allow passengers more space.

The route will follow the A59 and will call at all bus stops between Harrogate Bus Station and Harrogate Norwich Drive, then only at Nelson Inn, Mill 67 car park, Blubberhouses, Kex Gill Summit, Bolton Bridge Devonshire Arms, Bolton Abbey Station, Skipton Overdale and then at all stops via Newmarket St to Skipton Bus Station.

In addition to the delights on offer from the local shops, cafes, market and Skipton Castle, this service also makes it possible to explore the Washburn Valley from Blubberhouses, visit the Bolton Abbey Estate, walk the Dales Way from Bolton Bridge, or take a ride on the Embsay and Bolton Abbey Steam Railway.

Single and return tickets are available for up to £6 and £8 respectively. Elderly and disabled concessionary passes are valid and under 19s pay £1 one way. This service is part of the DalesBus network, managed by Dales and Bowland CIC, part of Friends of the Dales and operated by the Harrogate Bus Company.
