IMAGES: Arrests follow North Yorkshire barn fire

Five teenagers have been arrested in connection with a barn fire in a North Yorkshire village.

An off-duty police officer spotted the blaze in a cattle barn on Bedale Road, Aiskew, on Sunday, March 1, just before 6pm and raised the alarm.

The fire service attended the scene along with North Yorkshire Police officers. Both agencies are conducting enquiries into the cause of the fire.

Five local teenagers have been arrested in connection with the incident – three girls aged 13, 14 and 15, and two boys both aged 14. They have all been released on police bail to allow for further enquiries.

Officers are appealing to anyone who was in the area around the time of the incident and noticed anything suspicious to get in touch.
